Jennifer Ryan is a Professor at the University of Toronto, affiliated with the Department of Psychology and Psychiatry. She serves as Senior Scientist at the Rotman Research Institute at Baycrest, where she holds the Anne and Max Tanenbaum Chair in Cognitive Neuroscience of Memory.
- Focus: Memory systems, aging, amnesia, neuroimaging
Her research explores how eye movements interact with memory systems, revealing age-related disconnection between visual exploration and memory consolidation. She develops eyetracking-based screening tools for early detection of neurodegeneration and investigates compensatory neocortical learning mechanisms like schema anchoring.
Recent publications focus on relational memory deficits in aging and dementia, using fMRI, MEG, and eyetracking to map neural dynamics. Awards include the Tanenbaum Chair for her contributions to cognitive neuroscience.
