Jennifer Otto's research delves into the intricate relationship between memory, narrative, and identity within Christian traditions. Her work particularly focuses on how early Christian communities constructed their identity through the retelling of foundational stories. She explores themes of martyrdom, violence, and pacifism across different historical periods, with special attention to the Radical Reformation and Anabaptist traditions.
Her current project, "Remembering Anabaptist Martyrs," funded by a SSHRC Insight Development Grant, investigates how early Christian martyrdom narratives have been received and reinterpreted by Anabaptist communities from the 16th century to the present day.
