Dr Jennifer Oneil is a Lecturer at the Business School, Edinburgh Napier University, with extensive experience in Programme Leadership for postgraduate and undergraduate degrees, including the online MBA, MSc Human Resource Management (pt), and BA Business Management. Her research focuses on the sociology of work and employment, addressing training and skills development, flexible work, precarious labor, compassionate pedagogy, and career transitions.
- Current projects explore precarity in mental health provision and emotional labor during pandemic telework.
- She serves as Director of Studies for Wajiha Rashid's PhD and Second Supervisor for Lucy Williams' and Coleen Patterson's research.
Key research themes include labor process theory applications to energy transition, mental health counseling labor, and career transition barriers. Her work critically examines the intersection of technology, labor conditions, and policy in sectors like oil, microbrewing, and renewable energy.
Scientific awards include the 2024 Learning & Education Prize, Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, and the ENU Research Excellence Prize. She actively reviews for journals such as New Technology, Work and Employment and participates in advisory panels and conference organizing committees.
