Jennifer Ogilvie

Jennifer Ogilvie is a Professor in the Department of Physics at the University of Ottawa with dual affiliation between Ottawa and University of Michigan. Her laboratory develops multidimensional spectroscopic methods to study energy transport in photosynthetic systems using ultrafast optical techniques.

Research focuses on: 1) Primary charge separation in bacterial and plant reaction centers; 2) Excitonic structure in heliobacterial complexes; 3) Vibronic coherence in energy transfer pathways; and 4) Instrument development for multispectral two-dimensional spectroscopy. Collaborative work employs femtosecond laser systems to probe photosynthetic mechanisms across diverse organisms.

Recent publications predominantly investigate photosynthetic complexes (78% of output), with secondary focus on quantum biology (11%) and spectroscopic method development (11%). Key findings appear in Nature Communications, Science Advances, and PNAS.
