Prof. Dr. Tobias Brixner holds the Chair of Physical Chemistry I at the University of Würzburg's Faculty of Chemistry and Pharmacy. His research focuses on ultrafast dynamics in quantum mechanical systems using femtosecond laser pulses, particularly in the optical spectral range, to study processes like chemical reactions and energy transport at femtosecond to picosecond timescales.
His group develops advanced transient absorption spectroscopy methods, including pump-probe and two-dimensional spectroscopy, to analyze systems such as chiral molecules, electrochemical processes, and materials for solar cells. Recent work includes isolating transient absorption spectra from single/multi-exciton interactions and studying coherent dynamics in light-harvesting complexes.
The group collaborates with visiting scientists like Prof. Jacob Krich (SCIAS Fellow) and includes postdocs such as Dr. Yi Xu and Dr. Vishnu E. Krishnan. Current projects emphasize applications in molecular electronics and organic solar cells, with a focus on charge separation and energy transport mechanisms.
