Moonman’s research engages with media industries, production studies, and the political economy of pornography, while exploring feminist and queer theoretical frameworks. She has published on women directors in adult video and queer women’s representation in U.S. television. Her current book project, The Softer Side of Hardcore?, examines women filmmakers in pornographic production cultures.
Her recent publications reveal a focus on alternative media economies, feminist critiques of adult film production, and genre studies of marginalized cinematic forms. Key themes include the interplay between commercial media and social justice, alongside experimental approaches to film analysis.
At Fordham, she teaches courses in Media & Sexuality, Film Theory & Criticism, and Horror Film studies. Previously, she served as a Visiting Assistant Professor at Loyola Marymount University and lectured at UCLA, CSU Long Beach, Otis College, and Chapman University.
