Jennifer Milne is a scientist at Stanford University, currently serving as Director of Advanced Research Projects at the Precourt Institute for Energy. She works on energy transition research, carbon removal technologies, and plant biochemistry. Previously, she was an energy analyst at the Global Climate and Energy Project and a postdoctoral scholar at the Carnegie Institution for Science, Department of Plant Biology.
- Ph.D. in Biology, University of York (2001)
- B.Sc. in Biochemistry (First Class Honors), University of Stirling (1997)
Her research spans energy systems and plant cell wall biology, focusing on carbohydrate chemistry, guard cell function, and lipid trafficking. In energy, she drives projects on greenhouse gas reduction and sustainability accelerators. In plant biology, her work reveals the role of pectins and glycosyltransferases in cell wall mechanics and seed development.
Her recent publications address negative emissions technologies, algal CO2 capture, and plant cell wall genetics. These works intersect environmental science, biophysics, and systems biology. She collaborates widely across disciplines, including climate modeling, bioenergy, and genetic networks.
At Stanford, she leads the Sustainability Accelerator's technology team and supports energy-related projects across the university. Her expertise bridges technical energy analysis and fundamental plant science.
