Jennifer Martin

Professor Jennifer Martin holds the Chair of Clinical Pharmacology at the University of Newcastle's School of Medicine and Public Health and directs the Australian Centre for Cannabinoid Clinical and Research Excellence (ACRE). Her research optimizes medication selection, dosing, and timing through precision medicine approaches including pharmacogenomics and therapeutic drug monitoring.

Research interests focus on individualizing cancer therapies, developing evidence for biosimilars, and deprescribing strategies for complex patients. Current projects include medicinal cannabis trials for palliative care, pharmacogenetic testing for chemotherapy dosing, and optimizing antimicrobial therapies through therapeutic drug monitoring.

Honors include the Rhodes Scholarship (1993) and recognition as finalist for the Royal Australasian College of Physicians Teaching Award (2014). She serves on national committees including the Pharmaceutical Benefits Advisory Committee and contributes to therapeutic guidelines development.

Laboratory research develops mass spectroscopy methods for synthetic drug detection and clinical validation of therapeutic monitoring approaches.
