Jennifer Lewton-Yates serves as Assistant Professor of Classics and Assistant Dean for Student Success at Millsaps College, teaching Latin and Greek courses from introductory to advanced levels including works by Cicero, Ovid, and the New Testament, alongside culture courses in translation.
She earned a B.A. in Humanities/Classics from Ohio Wesleyan University and a Ph.D. in Classics from Brown University.
Her research spans Classics with specialized focus on Latin Literature, Greek Literature, Greek Tragedy, Ancient Novel, and Ovid, emphasizing personalized student experiences that accommodate requests ranging from specific Catullus poems to Latin Harry Potter excerpts.
In her administrative capacity, she directs the CARE Team, retention strategies, and academic advising programs while advising transfer students and contributing to Introduction to Pathways. She additionally serves on the Senate of the Phi Beta Kappa Society.
