Jennifer Lewis

Dr. Jennifer Lewis is a Professor in the Department of Chemistry at the University of South Florida. Her research focuses on chemistry education, particularly on assessing student learning, curriculum development, and equity in STEM education.

Her work explores faculty attitudes toward curriculum reforms, strategies for technology-mediated assessment data dissemination, and the implementation of Peer-Led Guided Inquiry (PLGI) and Science Writing Heuristic (SWH) programs. She investigates barriers to adoption of evidence-based practices and evaluates the impact of curricular changes on student outcomes.

The Lewis group’s research spans national curriculum dissemination efforts and localized studies on PLGI effectiveness. Key areas include equity for at-risk populations, diversity in STEM, and improving achievement for women and underrepresented minorities through cooperative learning models.
