Dr. Jennifer K. Peterson is an Assistant Professor of Medical Entomology in the Department of Entomology & Wildlife Ecology at the University of Delaware, College of Agriculture & Natural Resources. Her research focuses on disease ecology, vector-borne diseases, and global health with particular emphasis on Chagas disease and triatomine bugs.
- Ph.D. in Ecology & Evolutionary Biology (2015), Princeton University
- Post-doctoral research in disease modeling (Princeton, Notre Dame) and epidemiology (University of Pennsylvania)
- Former teaching positions at Portland State University and Lewis and Clark College
Her research employs a cross-disciplinary, holistic approach to investigate interactions between organisms and their environment across spatio-temporal scales, parasite communities, and local human cultures. Current projects focus on mechanistic questions in disease dynamics, foodweb interactions, and environmental influences on vector behavior.
Dr. Peterson's recent publications demonstrate strong emphasis on spatial ecology, disease modeling, and interdisciplinary research. Keywords include: Triatomine Bug Ecology, Vector Transmission Dynamics, Spatial Epidemiology, and Socio-Environmental Systems.
- Collaborator with Center for Clinical Epidemiology and Biostatistics (University of Pennsylvania)
- Research associate at Center for Investigation, University of Antioquia, Medellin, Colombia
She teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in medical entomology while maintaining active research projects in Delaware and Colombia.
