Jennifer Jones is an Associate Professor of History and Associate Department Chair at Rutgers University. She has been affiliated with the institution since 1991 and specializes in the social and cultural history of eighteenth-century France, with particular focus on gender, fashion, and Enlightenment thought.
- Education: Ph.D. from Princeton University, B.A. from Grinnell College.
Research Interests center on the intersection of gender, commercial culture, and sociability in pre-revolutionary France. Her current project explores Therese Levasseur’s role in Rousseau’s life, shedding light on gender dynamics in Enlightenment intellectual circles.
Teaching includes undergraduate and graduate courses on Early Modern Europe, French Revolution, gender history, and fashion studies. She also teaches seminars on topics like urban sociability and the history of clothing.
