Jennifer Jackson-Smyth is a Researcher at the School of Communication and Media, Ulster University, serving as Research Assistant and Project Lead for the Architects of Change initiative. She joined the university in 2019, following studies in Architecture at the University of Greenwich, London.
Her career spans international experience, including teaching English in Hong Kong (her birthplace). As an artist and illustrator, she focuses on sustainability in the built environment, with a solo exhibition at the Crescent Arts Centre (2018) and recognition in Architizer’s One Drawing Challenge (2020–2021).
Her research intersects renewable energy systems, green skills gaps, and environmental policy, particularly in island ecotourism and circular economy frameworks. She contributes to funded projects like the AHRC-supported Green Transition Ecosystem: Future Island-Island.
