Jennifer J. Scott serves as Assistant Professor in the Department of Earth & Environmental Sciences at Mount Royal University's Faculty of Science and Technology, where she has held a faculty position since September 2012. She additionally maintains an Adjunct Faculty appointment in the Department of Earth Sciences at Simon Fraser University.
Her research program centers on sedimentary geology and ichnology, with specialized focus on limnogeology (ancient lake basin systems) and marginal marine depositional environments. Scott integrates trace fossil analysis, sedimentological evidence, geochemical data, and paleontological records within sequence stratigraphic frameworks to investigate how climate and tectonic forces drive basin evolution and influence biological distribution through geological time. Current fieldwork concentrates on Plio-Pleistocene rift-lake systems in Kenya and Cretaceous-aged marginal marine/lacustrine deposits in Alberta, Canada, examining how external controls shape environmental dynamics and ecosystem responses.
