Jennifer J. Muehlenkamp

Jennifer J. Muehlenkamp is a Professor in the Psychology Department at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire, where she has been faculty since 2009. She is a licensed clinical psychologist with a PhD from Northern Illinois University (2005) and completed pre-doctoral training at Montefiore Medical Center.

Research Focus: Her work examines psychological/sociocultural risk factors for suicidal behavior and non-suicidal self-injury (NSSI) in youth, connections between NSSI and body image disturbances, and development of prevention programs. She employs longitudinal, behavioral, and experimental methodologies.

Teaching: Courses include Introduction to Psychology (Honors), Abnormal Psychology, Clinical Psychology, Understanding Suicide, and graduate-level Counseling I.

Student Engagement: Mentors undergraduates in research, program evaluation, and service learning. Student collaborators have presented work at regional, national, and international conferences.
