Professor Jennifer Freeman holds the role of Associate Head of School (Research) at the School of Health Professions, Faculty of Health, University of Plymouth. She chairs the School's Undergraduate Ethics Committee and leads the Rehabilitation Research Group within the Peninsula Institute of Health and Care Research. Her research focuses on neurological rehabilitation, particularly clinical trials for Multiple Sclerosis (MS) and telerehabilitation innovations. She actively supervises PhD and Master’s students, specializing in physiotherapy and rehabilitation methodologies.
Her research contributions include multi-national trials such as the COGEX trial (exercise and cognitive rehab in MS), SUMS Trial (standing frame programs), and EMaPP trial (orthosis for lumbo-pelvic pain). She also explores falls management interventions and web-based technologies for MS rehabilitation. Teaching emphasizes adult neurology, evidence-based practice, and outcome measurement in physiotherapy.
Professor Freeman has supervised over ten doctoral students, contributing to advancements in MS management, orthosis development, and stroke rehabilitation. Her work aligns with UN Sustainable Development Goals, particularly improving health and well-being (SDG 3).
