Jennifer Freeman Marshall is an Assistant Professor at Purdue University in the Department of English and the Women's, Gender and Sexuality Studies program under the College of Liberal Arts. She earned her PhD in Women’s Studies from Emory University and holds additional degrees in Anthropology and English.

Her research bridges interdisciplinary perspectives in Gender Studies, African American Literature, and Anthropology, focusing on cultural identity, race, and gender within literary traditions. Her publications analyze the intersections of Black women’s narratives and contemporary fiction.
Scientific Awards include multiple teaching honors from Purdue University and the National Women's Studies Association. She is actively involved in professional organizations such as the National Women’s Studies Association (Women of Color Caucus), Modern Language Association, Reception Studies Society, and American Anthropology Association.
