Jennifer Cullen

Jennifer Cullen is an Associate Professor and Director of the Center for Social Work Education at Widener University. She holds a PhD in Social Work from Widener University (2013) and an MSW from the University of Pennsylvania (1998). Her research focuses on professional identity development of social work students, autism spectrum disorders in educational settings, and mentorship models in academia. She leads initiatives promoting social justice through programs like the Walk Against Hate.

Her educational philosophy emphasizes andragogy, prioritizing student-centered learning and experiential activities. Affiliated programs include Social Work (PhD/MSW/BSW) and dual-degree programs in Human Sexuality Studies. She has received grants including the 2013–2014 Bringing Theory to Practice Award and a 2014–2015 Faculty Development Grant.

Recent work engages with autism awareness among social workers, parental perspectives on child behavioral challenges, and innovative mentoring frameworks. She actively participates in advocacy efforts through the Center for Social Work Education, recently leading student groups in anti-hate initiatives with the Anti-Defamation League.
