Jennifer Couper is Professor and Head of the Discipline of Paediatrics at the University of Adelaide's Adelaide Medical School. A paediatric endocrinologist, she previously led the Diabetes and Endocrinology Department at Women's and Children's Hospital (2001-2021). Her research focuses on preventing type 1 diabetes and its cardiovascular complications in children.
She leads the ENDIA study examining prenatal origins of childhood diabetes and develops early biomarkers for cardiovascular risk reduction. An elected member of ISPAD's Advisory Council, she authors national/international diabetes management guidelines.
