Jennifer Cornish is a Professor of Psychology and Academic Director of the Graduate Research Academy at Macquarie University, Australia. She holds a Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research) role and is affiliated with the Lifespan Health and Wellbeing Research Centre and the Centre for Nanoscale BioPhotonics (ARC). Her research focuses on neuropharmacology, particularly dopamine's role in regulating brain function, addiction, mental health disorders, and novel pharmacotherapies. She teaches courses in Biopsychology, Clinical Psychopharmacology, and Neuroscience.
Her research interests span drug addiction (e.g., methamphetamine), oxytocin/cannabinoid therapeutics, and neurobiological mechanisms underlying anxiety, psychosis, and ADHD. She supervises postgraduate students exploring pharmacotherapies for mental health. Dr. Cornish has led 30+ research projects, including studies on midbrain microglia, oxytocin's role in early life stress, and cannabinoid effects on addiction.
Her recent publications analyze methamphetamine's impact on astrocytes, oxytocin's therapeutic potential for addiction, and proteomic insights into drug-induced cognitive impairments. She is a frequent journal reviewer and collaborates with organizations like the Australasian Neuroscience Society.
