Jennifer Brand is a Research Associate in the DFG Research Unit 2064 STRATA and a PhD student at the Georg-August-University Göttingen, affiliated with the Seminar for Ancient Near Eastern Studies and its Department of Ancient Near Eastern Studies. She has also contributed as a Tutor for Sumerian and Akkadian courses since 2016.
Education:

- BA in Ancient Cultures (2016), Georg-August-University Göttingen
Research Interests span Sumerian and Akkadian languages, cuneiform text decipherment, Mesopotamian cosmology, and underworld conceptions in ancient religions. Her work bridges linguistic anthropology and mythological studies, focusing on Sumerian rituals, the Abzu concept, and the Nungal Hymn as a framework for analyzing mythical layers and underworld symbolism.
Grants & Positions include her current role in the DFG Research Unit 2064 STRATA and past roles as a Research Assistant and Tutor in the Department of Ancient Near Eastern Studies.
