Dr. Jennifer Bossi Wetzel is an Associate Professor in Exercise Science at Winthrop University’s College of Education, Sport, and Human Sciences, specifically within the Department of Physical Education, Sport, and Human Performance. With nine years of college teaching experience, she specializes in exercise physiology and prescription, while also being a certified athletic trainer and exercise physiologist.
- Education: Ph.D. in Exercise Physiology (Springfield College), M.S. in Exercise Science (Central Connecticut State University), B.S. in Athletic Training (Wingate University)
Her research focuses on female physiology, endurance running performance, injury prevention, and pedagogical strategies in exercise science. She has presented at state/national conferences and published in journals like the North Carolina Journal for Physical Education and Athletics and Journal of Contemporary Athletics. Professionally, she holds certifications from the American College of Sports Medicine and teaches yoga/in-cycling classes. Outside academia, she actively participates in endurance running events, having completed half marathons in 18 states as part of the 50 State Race Challenge.
