Jennifer Blue is a Professor of Physics and Associate Dean in the College of Arts and Science at Miami University. She earned her M.S. and Ph.D. in physics and science education from the University of Minnesota in 1997, following high school teaching experience. Her research focuses on equity in STEM, particularly gender and race issues in physics education, curriculum reform, and supporting traditionally excluded populations. She became CAS Associate Dean in 2021.
Education background includes Haverford College (undergraduate) and the University of Minnesota (graduate studies). Current research projects include developing a Critical Race Theory series for physicists, international collaborations on women in physics, and undergraduate equity studies on topics like queer student experiences and impostor syndrome.
Her recent publications emphasize equity-focused pedagogy, gender dynamics in engineering education, and curriculum inclusivity. She is actively involved in K-12 teacher training and has pioneered initiatives like the Teacher Synergistic Institute. Her work has addressed disability in physics education and non-binary identity frameworks for educators.
Future projects include an international scholar collaboration in 2024 and ongoing undergraduate research on STEM equity issues. She leads efforts to reform introductory physics courses and advocates for systemic changes in STEM education through policy and pedagogical innovation.
