Professor Jennifer Barrett (Dunghutti heritage) is a leading scholar in Museum Studies at the University of Sydney, where she serves as Pro-Vice Chancellor Indigenous (Academic) and Director of the National Centre for Cultural Competence (NCCC). With over two decades of service, her career spans roles such as Director of Museum Studies and Chair of Museums and Galleries NSW.

Research Interests focus on the intersection of museums, human rights, and universalism. She explores themes like Indigenous language revitalization, transnational memory frameworks, and environmental museology. Publications include monographs on museums as public spaces (2011, 2025), co-authored studies on Aboriginal student engagement (2022), and edited volumes connecting Holocaust memory to human rights (2025). She has contributed to international handbooks, policy reports, and journal articles since the 1990s.
