Jennifer Balboni is a Professor in the Department of Sociology and Criminal Justice at Curry College, where she teaches and mentors students in criminal justice and restorative justice. She also serves as a pre-law advisor and facilitates restorative justice practices in her community.

Her research focuses on criminal justice reform, restorative justice, and ethnographic studies of survivor experiences. She has explored topics like juvenile justice, police-community relations, prosecutorial reform, and the societal impacts of the war on drugs. Her work often bridges academic scholarship with practical applications, such as teaching criminal justice through HBO’s The Wire.
While her publications span journals like American Behavioral Scientist and Contemporary Justice Review, her 2011 book Clergy Sexual Abuse Litigation: Survivors Seeking Justice highlights her ethnographic research on clergy abuse survivors. Her recent work continues to emphasize participatory and community-driven approaches to justice.
