Jennifer Arch is a Teaching Professor in the Department of English at Washington University in St. Louis, where she holds a PhD from the same institution. Her academic work focuses on Geoffrey Chaucer’s prose texts, medical humanities, and the history of the English language. She has published editions of Chaucer’s works in The Norton Chaucer (2019) and authored The Architecture of a Sentence, a textbook currently under review.
Her teaching includes courses bridging literature and medicine (e.g., Writing and Medicine, Literature and Medicine), the history of English, and prose style analysis. Courses like The Sentence in English emphasize traditional sentence diagramming to explore prose craft. She actively engages students in advanced language studies through specialized courses.
Her research integrates Chaucer’s scientific and poetic works, highlighting intersections between medieval literature and medicine. She contributes to the Medical Humanities minor at the university through interdisciplinary coursework.
