JenClare Gawaran is a Special Lecturer in the Department of Art, Art History and Design at Oakland University. She holds an MFA in Studio Art (Printmaking) from Wayne State University and a BFA in Art Education from Michigan State University. Her academic focus encompasses Printmaking, Drawing, Design, and Curating, with teaching responsibilities including courses such as Beginning Drawing and Drawing for Non-Majors.
Gawaran maintains an active artistic practice with extensive exhibition engagements across the United States and internationally, including venues like the University of Michigan, Detroit Institute of Arts, Zhou B. Art Center (Chicago), Qijiang Printmaking Institute (China), and Jyvaskyla Art Museum (Finland). Her work resides in permanent collections at the Detroit Institute of Arts, Wayne State University, and Guangdong Museum of Art in China.
Beyond creative work, she contributes to academic discourse through presentations at conferences such as the Mid-America College Art Association and serves on advisory boards including the Anton Art Center Board of Trustees and Whitdel Arts Board of Directors.
