Jen Ross is a Professor of Digital Culture and Education Futures at the University of Edinburgh, affiliated with the School of Education and the College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences. She serves as co-director of the Centre for Research in Digital Education and Deputy Director (KE) of Research and Knowledge Exchange. Ross co-founded the Manifesto for Teaching Online and the E-learning and Digital Cultures MOOC, and leads the Digital Cultural Heritage Research Network in Edinburgh.
Research interests include:
- Education and cultural heritage futures
- Emerging technologies (e.g., Generative AI) in pedagogy
- Digital cultural heritage engagement and interpretation
- Open and online education frameworks
- Self-presentation, surveillance, and trust in digital learning
Scientific awards:
- Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy
Advising: Supervises master's and PhD students in digital education, cultural heritage, and related fields.
Projects: Principal investigator of the AHRC-funded Artcasting project, exploring digital engagement with art heritage through co-production. Co-founded the MSc in Education Futures at the Edinburgh Futures Institute.
