Jennifer Ager is a Lecturer at the University of Cumbria’s Institute of Education, specializing in primary teacher training and curriculum quality assurance. She serves as a University Partnership Tutor, supporting student placements in primary schools, and as a Subject QA Coordinator overseeing curriculum development. Her academic roles include Theme Lead for Outdoor Learning at the Learning, Education and Development (LED) research centre. Prior to academia, she spent 20 years teaching in primary schools, holding leadership roles including Assistant Headteacher and Global Learning Lead for a school cluster in Tanzania.

Her research focuses on Outdoor Learning as pedagogy and global learning’s societal impacts. She advocates for curriculum design that integrates outdoor education daily through the CIDIO (Can I Do It Outside?) framework.
Publications highlight strategies for embedding outdoor learning and global citizenship in primary schools.
