Dr. Jemima Ackah-Arthur is a Research Fellow at the School for International Studies, Simon Fraser University. Her work focuses on counterinsurgency strategies in weak-state contexts, particularly in Sub-Saharan Africa, examining how states collaborate with non-state actors to combat armed groups like Boko Haram. She employs ethnographic methods, including field interviews with communities affected by violence.
Education: M.A. in Political Science from University of British Columbia (Canada), PhD in International Relations from London School of Economics (UK). Current research explores collaborations between state governors and local vigilante groups in curbing armed violence. Notable contribution includes work for the Oxford Handbook of Transitional Justice.
