معرفی
Prof. dr. Jelle Hendrix is a Senior Lecturer at Hasselt University's Faculty of Medicine and Life Sciences, Department of Neuroscience. He leads the Dynamic Bioimaging Lab and manages the Advanced Optical Microscopy Center core facility. His research focuses on advanced optical imaging techniques to study molecular mechanisms in neuroscience and structural biology, particularly protein dynamics and biomolecular interactions. He serves as Deputy Ombudsman and sits on the Examination Board for the Bachelor of Medicine program.
Research interests span multiple biophysical domains:
- Single-molecule fluorescence microscopy for structural biology
- Protein conformation dynamics in neurodegeneration
- Biomolecular condensate characterization
- G-protein coupled receptor mechanisms
- Advanced microscopy method development
- Microfluidic approaches for protein interaction studies
His publication portfolio reveals strong emphasis on single-molecule imaging techniques applied to membrane proteins, neurodegenerative mechanisms, and receptor dynamics. Recent work demonstrates growing interest in integrating computational approaches with experimental biophysics to study protein phase separation and its role in disease pathologies.
Current research projects include:
- Flanders BioImaging (2023-2026): Integrated biological imaging services
- MULTISCALE Optical Imaging Core (2022-2026): Nanoscale to centimeter microscopy infrastructure
- Structuromics@UHasselt (2025-2030): Biomolecular assembly platform
- INSITE (2024-2027): Liquid protein condensate framework
He currently advises 9 PhD students working on projects ranging from tauopathy mechanisms to real-time structural biology of membrane proteins. His Dynamic Bioimaging Lab develops novel methodologies for studying biological systems at unprecedented spatiotemporal resolutions.
