Jelena Jankovic-Rankovic is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Anthropology at the University of South Carolina's College of Arts and Sciences. She earned her PhD from the University of Notre Dame and previously held postdoctoral positions at Notre Dame and Arizona State University.
Her biocultural anthropology research examines migration, displacement, and water insecurity through combined ethnographic and physiological methods. Current projects include studies on water equity in U.S. colonias and refugee health in transitional settlements.
She teaches courses including Human Variation, Anthropology of Migration, and Anthropology & Development. Her research has been funded by NSF and Open Society Foundations, earning recognitions like the Phyllis B. Eveleth Award and Katie Murphy McMahon Award.
