Jeffry Oliver is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Archaeology at the University of Aberdeen's School of Geosciences. His research focuses on landscape archaeology, colonial and post-medieval periods, and interdisciplinary approaches to cultural interaction and heritage management.
- BA in Archaeology with History (Simon Fraser University, 1998)
- MA in Landscape Archaeology (University of Sheffield, 2001)
- PhD in Archaeology (University of Sheffield, 2006)
His work spans colonial landscapes of western Canada and improvement-period Britain, with a strong emphasis on community archaeology (e.g., Bennachie Colony project) and historiography. Recent publications examine crofting heritage, squatting practices, and environmental impacts of historical settlements.
Current projects include the Historical Ecology of Lowland Hillscapes and community-driven research at Bennachie. He leads undergraduate courses like Archaeologies of Landscape and postgraduate modules on archaeological theory.
