معرفی
Jeffrey Welker is a Professor in the Department of Biological Sciences at the University of Alaska Anchorage. His research focuses on Arctic and boreal ecosystems, climate change, and isotope geochemistry. He holds a Ph.D. from Texas A&M University (1985), specializing in carbon and nitrogen cycling, and has extensive postdoctoral and academic experience in environmental science.
His research interests include: (1) isotopic analysis of precipitation and water cycles to understand climate records, (2) wildlife migration and food web dynamics using isotope forensics, and (3) Arctic ecosystem responses to climate change. He has authored or co-authored over 50 peer-reviewed publications, including studies in Nature Scientific Reports, Global Change Biology, and Ecological Applications.
Welker has secured over $18 million in grants, including major NSF awards for Arctic Observing Networks, climate change experiments, and ecosystem monitoring. Notable grants include the $467K ITEX AON collaboration and the $1.3M project linking belowground phenology to Arctic ecosystem function.
He leads the Welker Lab, which integrates field studies, isotopic techniques, and long-term experiments. His work has global implications for understanding climate feedback mechanisms in polar regions.
