Jeffrey Tecosky-Feldman serves as Senior Lecturer in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics at Haverford College, where he has held faculty positions since 1987 (full-time since 1990) and twice served as Department Chair.
Education:
- B.A. in Mathematics, Harvard College (1980)
- M.A. in Mathematics, Columbia University (1981)
His career centers on transforming mathematics pedagogy, particularly through NSF-sponsored calculus reform. As a founding member of the 1998 Harvard-based Calculus Consortium, he co-developed globally influential textbooks addressing national crises in calculus education. His interdisciplinary work bridges quantitative reasoning, early educational technology (including pioneering Macintosh-based multivariable calculus tools), and systemic support for underrepresented STEM students.
Professor Tecosky-Feldman directed Haverford's major student development initiatives: the Multicultural Scholars Program (now Haverford Horizons), Haverford Summer Science Institute (2006-2011), Chesick Summer Institute (2012-2020; expanded from 60 to 300+ students), and Horizons Leadership Institute (2014-2019). His legacy includes institutionalizing structural pathways for first-generation and low-income STEM scholars through these programs.
