Jeffrey Sharon, MD, is an Associate Professor in the Otology, Neurotology, and Skull Base Surgery division at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF). He serves as Director of the Balance and Falls Center in the Department of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery (OHNS). His clinical expertise includes ear and skull base surgeries, such as cochlear implants, vestibular schwannoma management, and otosclerosis treatment. He completed his medical degree at Mount Sinai School of Medicine (2009), residency at Washington University in St. Louis (2014), and a fellowship at Johns Hopkins (2016).
Dr. Sharon’s research focuses on improving outcomes for vestibular disorders, including vestibular migraine, superior canal dehiscence syndrome, and Meniere’s disease. Notably, he pioneered the VM-PATHI assessment tool and demonstrated CGRP medications' efficacy in vestibular migraine trials. He is a member of the American Academy of Otolaryngology, Barany Society, and American Neurotology Society.
His awards include the 2009 Alpha Omega Alpha, 2013 Michael Paparella Research Award, and 2016 Nicholas Torok Vestibular Award. His work spans over 100 publications, emphasizing clinical trials, surgical innovations, and patient-centered outcomes in vestibular medicine.
