Jeffrey Severs is an Associate Professor in the Department of English Language and Literatures at the University of British Columbia (UBC), where he has been a faculty member since 2009. His research focuses on postmodern and contemporary U.S. literature and culture, with significant critical work on authors like David Foster Wallace, Thomas Pynchon, and John Edgar Wideman. He co-edited Pynchon’s Against the Day: A Corrupted Pilgrim’s Guide (2011) and authored the monograph David Foster Wallace’s Balancing Books: Fictions of Value (2017).

Research Interests
Severs’ scholarship spans postmodern fiction, media and technology in literature, and war and conflict studies. His recent projects include critiques of sound studies (e.g., audiobooks, radio in Infinite Jest), post-9/11 literature, and musical theater (notably Hamilton).
