Jeffrey Schulze is a Clinical Associate Professor of History at UT Dallas' Harry W. Bass Jr. School of Arts, Humanities, and Technology, specializing in Native American, borderlands, and environmental history. He holds a PhD from Southern Methodist University.
His research investigates indigenous communities along the U.S.-Mexico border, environmental transformations in border regions, and historical patterns of migration and territoriality. Current work examines indigenous nationalism as expressed through border-dwelling communities' political strategies.
Publications include the award-winning book on indigenous borderland nationalism and articles on riverine border disputes. Research often combines archival research with ethnographic approaches to document historical and contemporary borderland experiences.
He teaches courses on Native American history, environmental history, and border studies, employing 3D visualization tools to enhance historical pedagogy. Community engagement includes historical preservation initiatives with tribal communities.
