Jeffrey Rufinus, PhD, is a Professor at Widener University, affiliated with the School of Engineering's Computer Science/Information Systems (BS) and Digital Media Informatics (BA) programs. He holds a PhD in Physics from the University of Wisconsin-Madison (1999) and has prior teaching experience at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and Whitewater. His research focuses on high performance computing, nanoscience, nanotechnology, magnetism, and computational physics, particularly using computational methods to analyze nanoscale phenomena. He has published in journals such as Journal of Applied Physics and Journal of Magnetism and Magnetic Materials.
Dr. Rufinus teaches courses in programming, algorithms, data communications, game programming, computer graphics, and high performance computing. He has secured grants from the National Science Foundation, NASA Langley Research Center, and computational grants from the University of Oklahoma and Pittsburgh Supercomputing Center. In 2023, he collaborated with an interdisciplinary team to publish a cancer immunotherapy discovery in Computational Biology and Chemistry, involving students from chemical engineering and computer science programs.
Professional affiliations include the American Physical Society (APS) and the International Association of Mathematical Physics (IAMP). His work emphasizes computational approaches to solve complex physics problems at the nanoscale, bridging theoretical and applied research.
