معرفی
Satoru Emori is an Associate Professor in the Department of Physics at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University (Virginia Tech). His research focuses on understanding and controlling magnetization dynamics and spin transport in magnetic thin films, aiming to develop energy-efficient memory and computing technologies. He has contributed to interdisciplinary education through the Nanoscience Program and served the magnetics community via leadership roles in the American Physical Society.
- B.S. in Materials Science and Engineering, University of California, Irvine (2008)
- Ph.D. in Materials Science and Engineering, Massachusetts Institute of Technology (2013)
His research bridges fundamental physics and technological applications of magnetism, spanning spintronics, magnetic thin films, and nanoscale magnetic devices. These efforts have implications for sustainable computing and quantum technologies.
- Recipient of National Science Foundation CAREER Award (2022)
At Virginia Tech, he has organized interdisciplinary courses connecting science to real-world applications and served as Member-at-Large for the American Physical Society’s Topical Group on Magnetism and Its Applications (GMAG). He also contributes to academic events like the Magnetism and Magnetic Materials Conference and APS March Meetings.
