Jeffrey Roessner serves as Dean of The School of the Humanities and Professor of English at Mercyhurst University. His roles include academic leadership and teaching in contemporary literature, popular music studies, cultural analysis, and creative writing. He maintains an office in Preston Hall 220 and can be reached at jroessner@mercyhurst.edu.
Roessner's research explores intersections of popular music and literature, creativity theory, and interdisciplinary scholarship. He has co-edited Write in Tune: Contemporary Music in Fiction and authored works on topics including The Beatles, R.E.M.'s post-confessional lyricism, post-9/11 protest music, and genre evolution in satellite radio.
His literary scholarship examines post-postmodernism in Roddy Doyle's works and historiographic writing by authors like Angela Carter and Alison Bechdel. As a musician, he published Creative Guitar: Writing Rock Songs with Originality, blending practical music instruction with theoretical insights.
