Jeffrey Moses is an Assistant Professor in the School of Applied and Engineering Physics at Cornell University, affiliated with the College of Arts and Sciences and the Department of Physics. He joined Cornell in 2014 after working as a research scientist at MIT. Moses leads federally funded research programs supported by NSF, DOE, and ONR. He holds a Ph.D. (2007) and B.Sc. (2001) in Applied Physics from Cornell and Yale respectively.
His research focuses on ultrafast nonlinear optics and attosecond physics, developing techniques to capture ultrafast phenomena and manipulate ultrashort light pulses. Specific interests include light-activated biophysical systems, energy flow in materials, broadband light sources, and quantum light manipulation. Current projects involve creating stroboscopes covering THz to EUV frequencies and developing nonlinear optical theory.
Moses has received multiple scientific awards including the Cornell Engineering Teaching Excellence Award (2021), NSF CAREER Award (2020), and Young Investigator Program Award from AFOSR (2013). His research team utilizes advanced laser techniques to study electronic and ionic motion at femtosecond/attosecond timescales.
