Jeffrey McKinney

Jeffrey McKinney is a Professor of Pediatrics and Vice Chair of Education in the Department of Pediatrics at UT Southwestern Medical Center, as well as Director of Medical Education for Children’s Health System in Dallas. He completed his medical training through the University of Iowa College of Medicine’s Medical Scientist Training Program, followed by residency and fellowship at Yale University in Pediatrics and Molecular, Cellular, and Developmental Biology. A Rhodes Scholar prior to his medical career, Dr. McKinney specializes in pediatric inpatient medicine and infectious diseases.

In his administrative roles, he oversees a Pediatrics Training Program encompassing over 100 residents, 100 subspecialty fellows, and 200 visiting rotators. His educational focus emphasizes leadership development, physician activism, and critical thinking to enhance long-term professional impact. Dr. McKinney has been recognized with UT Southwestern’s 2018 Mentoring Award for his contributions to trainee development.
