Jeffrey M. Kaczorowski, M.D. serves as Professor in both the Department of Pediatrics (General Pediatrics) and Department of Psychiatry (Child & Adolescent Services) at the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry. His multifaceted career bridges clinical pediatrics, psychiatric services, and transformative community health leadership.
Dr. Kaczorowski completed his medical degree at the University of Rochester School of Medicine & Dentistry (1991) and undergraduate studies at Colgate University (1987). His post-graduate training includes Pediatrics Residency (1991-1994), Chief Residency (1994-1995), and General Academic Pediatrics Fellowship (1995-1998), all at Rochester.
His research focuses on revolutionizing pediatric training through community health integration and advocacy education. As National Director of the American Academy of Pediatrics Community Pediatrics Training Initiative (CPTI), he has transformed over 80 pediatric programs nationwide. He founded the Hoekelman Center for community health leadership at Golisano Children's Hospital and serves as President of The Children's Agenda advocacy organization. His scholarly work reveals consistent themes: developing assessment tools for advocacy competence, designing flexible residency curricula, creating poverty intervention frameworks, and establishing evidence-based community partnership models.
Dr. Kaczorowski's scientific recognition includes the William T. Grant Foundation Distinguished Fellowship, multiple teaching awards, and sustained inclusion in Best Doctors in America (2003-2014). His 27 journal articles and 70+ book chapters demonstrate profound influence on pediatric education standards.
Through the Pediatric Links with the Community Program and CPTI, he has mentored generations of residents in community health advocacy. His policy work with the Children's Institute focuses on violence prevention in Rochester City Schools. Current initiatives examine equity-focused community health systems, public policy advocacy, and sustainable models for addressing child poverty through healthcare systems.
