Jeffrey Kahan serves as a Lecturer in Urban and Regional Planning at the University of Michigan’s Taubman College of Architecture and Urban Planning, teaching Urban Land Use Planning (URP 541) for Winter 2024 and 2025 semesters. Concurrently, he has held the position of City Planner for Ann Arbor since 1993, following three years with Sacramento County Planning Department.
His academic credentials include a Master of Urban Planning from Taubman College and a Bachelor of Science in planning, public policy, and management from the University of Oregon.
Mr. Kahan’s professional focus centers on practical urban infrastructure systems and land use policy implementation. His work addresses real-world challenges such as winter-season pedestrian and bicycle accessibility, as highlighted in a March 11, 2015 feature on WEMU’s “The Green Room” addressing Ann Arbor’s transportation planning.
