Jeffrey Jacot, PhD, is an Associate Professor at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus School of Medicine in the Department of Bioengineering. His research focuses on pediatric regenerative medicine, specializing in cardiac tissue engineering, biomaterial interactions, and stem cell applications derived from amniotic fluid and induced pluripotent stem cells.
- Education: PhD from Boston University (2005), BS in Aerospace Engineering from University of Colorado - Boulder (1994)
The Jacot Lab emphasizes transparency, inclusion, and training bioengineers for future leadership roles. Current projects include laboratory-grown heart tissue for structural defect reconstruction, mechanics of heart development in genetic conditions like Duchene Muscular Dystrophy, and biomanufacturing methods using scaffolds and bioreactors. His work addresses translational barriers in regenerative medicine through scaffold optimization, bioreactor systems, and timed drug release mechanisms.
Recent publications highlight advancements in vascularized hydrogels for cardiomyocyte proliferation, bioreactor designs for tissue maturation, and stem cell applications in congenital heart defect modeling. Research also explores Alzheimer’s Aβ peptide interactions with extracellular vesicles and mechanobiology in cardiac development.
