Jeffrey J. Siirola is a Professor of Engineering Practice (part-time) at Purdue University's Davidson School of Chemical Engineering and holds a Distinguished Service Professor position at Carnegie Mellon University. He retired in 2011 from Eastman Chemical Company after 39 years as a Technology Fellow. His roles include teaching courses on process design, technology assessment, and sustainable systems at Purdue.
Education: B.S. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Utah (1967), Ph.D. from the University of Wisconsin-Madison (1970).
Research interests focus on chemical process synthesis, sustainable development, carbon management, and engineering education. He has contributed to resource conservation, design methodologies, and technology assessment.
Awards and Honors include membership in the National Academy of Engineering, AIChE awards, and leadership roles in ABET, CACHE, and AIChE. He has advised numerous academic and governmental panels and serves on journal and department advisory boards.
Teaching: Courses include Design and Analysis of Processing Systems and Chemical Process Technology and Industry Structure.
