معرفی
Jeffrey D. Hasday, MD, is the Dr. Herbert Berger Professor of Medicine at the University of Maryland School of Medicine. With over 30 years of experience as a pulmonary and critical care physician, he is board-certified in Internal Medicine, Pulmonary Medicine, and Critical Care Medicine. His research focuses on thermobiology, examining how clinically relevant temperature variations (hypothermia/hyperthermia) impact biological processes in diseases like ARDS and sepsis.
- University of Rochester, MD (1979)
- Medical Internship & Residency (1980-1983)
- University of Michigan, Pulmonary & Critical Care Fellowships (1983-1984)
Dr. Hasday's work spans molecular mechanisms (p38 MAP kinase, HSF1, NF-kappaB) and clinical applications (therapeutic hypothermia in ARDS). His laboratory pioneered understanding of temperature modulation of cytokine expression and endothelial barrier function, while clinical studies revealed limitations of acetaminophen as an antipyretic in ICU settings.
Current projects include a multi-site clinical trial of therapeutic hypothermia in ARDS patients and development of substrate-selective p38 inhibitors through computer-aided drug design. His research has been funded by NIH R01 HL69057 and VA Merit Review IBX002143A.
Dr. Hasday directs the University of Maryland Cytokine Core Laboratory, advancing translational studies on temperature-dependent immune responses and epithelial healing mechanisms. His work bridges basic science and clinical practice to optimize temperature management in critical care.
