معرفی
Professor Jeffrey C. Grossman is a Professor of Materials Science and Engineering at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), part of the School of Engineering. He holds a B.A. in Physics from Johns Hopkins University and a Ph.D. in Theoretical Physics from the University of Illinois. His career includes postdoctoral work at UC Berkeley and a Lawrence Fellowship at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, where he pioneered nanotechnology research. At MIT since 2009, he leads the Grossman Group, focusing on computational design of energy-related materials. His research spans solar photovoltaics, thermoelectrics, hydrogen storage, and nanotechnology, with over 140 publications and 11 patents. He launched an experimental lab to complement his computational work and has been honored as an APS Fellow.
Research interests emphasize energy conversion, photovoltaics, and sustainable materials like cement and water desalination systems. His group employs advanced simulations and collaborates with experimental teams to innovate materials for energy storage and thermal management. Notable contributions include optically-regulated thermal storage materials and graphene-based desalination membranes. Awards include Fellow of The American Physical Society (2013).
His advising and grants focus on interdisciplinary energy projects, with key grants supporting work on solar fuels and thermal transport. The Grossman Group collaborates broadly, addressing challenges in renewable energy and environmental sustainability. Recent projects include passive cooling systems and novel approaches to shale gas processing.
