Jeffrey Blersch

Dr. Jeffrey Blersch is a Professor of Music at Concordia University, Nebraska, where he has served since 2002. He teaches organ, service playing, music theory, and serves as conductor of the Cantamus Women’s Choir.

His educational background includes:

• Doctor of Musical Arts in Organ Performance from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor
• Degrees in organ performance and music education from Oberlin College Conservatory of Music

Dr. Blersch is nationally recognized for his expertise in Church Music, particularly creative hymn interpretations. His research spans Organ Performance, Choral Conducting, Composition, Hymnology, and Music Education, with frequent performances at American Guild of Organists conventions, Lutheran church music events, and major venues like Dallas' Meyerson Symphony Center and Kansas City's Kauffman Center. His work has been featured on American Public Media’s Pipedreams and The Lutheran Hour.

His creative output comprises over 300 published compositions with Concordia Publishing House and Northwestern Publishing House, including hymn tunes in Lutheran Service Book. He has released recordings: Resounding Alleluias, On Christmas Night, Piano Duets for Christmas, and Piano Duets for Easter.

Dr. Blersch has received the following honors:

• 2023 Outstanding Teacher of the Year Award

He mentors students in Concordia's Church Music program, preparing them for rostered status in The Lutheran Church--Missouri Synod as parish music directors. His guidance extends through classroom instruction and leadership of the Cantamus Women’s Choir.

Dr. Blersch directs the Cantamus Women’s Choir, a core ensemble in Concordia's music program that performs at university and community events nationwide.
